A free pixel-art browser game I built for (and starring) my own family. Navigate Abu Dhabi’s streets, out-dodge Mom’s veggie barrage, cook and slice a perfect pizza, then deliver it 5 times across the city.
About
The three playable characters are modeled on my kids and me (Majid, Malik, and Randolph), with Mom as the boss fight and Sara in the credits. It shipped fast: 19 versions in ~3 weeks (v0.1.0 to v0.9.1), all documented in the changelog. It started as a single-file 1,410-line prototype, was rebuilt with Claude as a structured Vite + React + TypeScript app, and survived multi-agent audit rounds. One pass triaged 47 findings.
How to play
One run is the full loop: maze, boss battle, oven, slicing, then 5 deliveries.
- Pick a character. Majid (3 HP) slows Mom’s veggie spawns but takes a delivery speed penalty. Malik (3 HP) gets a 1.5x slicing bonus but sees less of the maze. Randolph (4 HP) has no handicap.
- The maze. Escape a fog-of-war 15×15 maze of city streets: on-screen D-pad, virtual joystick, or swipe-to-step on touch.
- Mom boss battle. Dodge the thrown veggies; when Mom is exhausted, walk in and hug her.
- The oven. Pure timing: pull the pizza in the 70-90% cooked window.
- Slicing. Draw 4 clean cuts across the pie.
- Delivery. A Frogger-style chase, run 5 times with difficulty scaling every run.
Difficulty (easy / normal / hard), graphics (3D or Classic 2D), and 5 audio themes are all in settings. Scores post to a global top-10 leaderboard that works across devices.
Built with
React 19 + TypeScript on Vite. The default view is a voxel 3D renderer on three.js + react-three-fiber, with each character transcribed from the original 32×32 SVG pixel art. A Classic 2D mode is both selectable and the automatic fallback when WebGL fails. All sound is synthesized in-browser with Web Audio API oscillators: chiptune music and SFX, zero audio files. The leaderboard is a PHP + SQLite API with per-IP rate limiting. Initial bundle is ~78 KB gzipped; the 3D stack lazy-loads behind the title screen. Verified down to iPhone SE.
